The Dragsters USA-History

The Original Allison, Crow Dragster was built by Jim Nelson from Westminster, California. The Car was the first junior fueler – Less than 310 cubic inch, fuel:nitro – whitch drove a time of seven seconds. The team drove times 7.85 and 7.95 in February and April 1967. The car got scrapped in 1967 and the driver Ed Allison suffered severe injuries and fell into a coma due to the accident. Dennis McCarrell talked Fred Crow into repairing the car to it’s normal and the racer changed after that under the names of Allison, Crow and McCarrell. Dennis worked as the team’s driver since then.

The team continued racing and managed to achieve Junior Fuels' record of 7.63. This time was achieved in September 1967 in Lions drag strip in Long Beach California. The time is still the record of Junior Fuels, because the rules were changed. The team quit driving Dragsters and started racing a supercharged Chrysler in other groups.

The New Beginning

The new beginningIn 1989 the racing circles started to summon the front engine racers when Dennis and his brother Rod McCarrell started racing in nostalgia races and did it on a with a  dragster, which someone had conscientiously kept since early 1970’s. Because the original record holding dragster was no more available, another almost identical was created using a different car.  The only knowledge remaining of the frame is it’s builder Mr. Schumacher and the year 1967 when it was constructed.
In the USA’s Nostalgic drag racing competitions, engine used was 350 cid Chevy and the fuel was metanol. At it’s best it drove a quatermile in 8.30 seconds with an ending speed of  160 mph. In 1991 the dragster was sold without technology to our team in Rauma, Finland.
